Are you a graduate looking to start a career in finance?

Our Trainee Accountant roles are a great way to kickstart your career. As a Trainee Accountant, you will study to become a CCAB qualified accountant with the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA). Qualification training takes two to three years to complete and you will be fully supported to become a qualified CIPFA Member.

Working at the London Boroughs of Richmond upon Thames and Wandsworth presents a unique opportunity to work in a ground-breaking shared staffing structure across two distinct and sovereign Councils. Trainee Accountants are rotated on a six monthly basis across six different placements within the Council’s Resources Directorate. The placements offer insights into each team’s purpose and function and the opportunity to gain the skills, knowledge and experience to meet the attributes required by CIPFA and to become a highly sought after qualified accountant.

You will be a graduate with at least a 2:1 degree and GCSE passes at grade B or above in Maths and English Language. You will be self-motivated and good with numbers with the ability to plan workloads, meet tight deadlines and achieve targets. You will be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, and have a good understanding of local government services.

In return, we can offer you working arrangements that will enhance your work-life balance, including a generous holiday allowance of 31 days plus bank holidays.

In addition, we offer a range of staff benefits such as membership of the Local Government contributory pension scheme, childcare vouchers, new technology scheme, interest-free loans on annual travel cards, discounts at many leisure activities, restaurants, shops, and other establishments. A wide range of developmental opportunities are also offered.
