Selby District Council are seeking a Solicitor and Monitoring Officer to join their leadership team. This is a challenging and exciting opportunity to advise the Council and on a wide variety of matters, including high value procurement transactions, major corporate developments and partnership agreements.
The role also has the wider scope of assisting in shaping the strategic direction of the Council particularly in contractual and procurement matters.
The nature of the work requires a credible legal professional, astute leadership yet be flexible and versatile approach as the post holders tackles challenges head on in response to the changing needs of the Council, and its developing initiatives.
This is an ideal opportunity for a solicitor or barrister familiar with commercial contracts, procurement and working with local government.
You’ll be an experienced legal expert who is comfortable operating in a complex political environment. You’ll will be adept in negotiations and partnership working to realise opportunities and maximise efficiencies. An independent attitude and personal integrity are also critical; taking the lead on promoting high ethical standards within the organisation, as well as a willingness to hold Council officer, members and senior management to account.
