Job Details

We currently have an exciting Residency Sheltered Housing manager post become available in one of our Sheltered Housing Schemes.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Housing Management division in Camden Council, where you will be promoting, encouraging and supporting the continued independence and well-being of the sheltered housing tenants. The role will involve engaging and maintaining constructive relationships with various stakeholders who are involved in the sheltered scheme, such as; tenants, carers, partners, service providers and the wider community. You will also work closely with the estate management team to provide enhanced housing management service to sheltered housing tenants, as well as maintaining the integrity of the building and safety of people within the blocks.

A one-bed accommodation is to be provided that will be your main residence and the service tenancy is offered in lieu of out of hour’s availability to respond to emergency call outs. The rent element of your accommodation will be funded by the service but you are expected to pay a nominal service charge and must ensure that your rent account does not fall into arrears.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who will work flexibly, adjusting their own and others’ workloads to meet individual work targets and the priority demands of the team. The working environment will be demanding and busy, and hence time management and organising skills are required. You will assist with the management of complex cases involving hoarding, fire risks, antisocial behaviour resulting from tenants with mental health issues. The resident manager will have good working knowledge of the health and safety implications concerning lone working particularly during out of hours. You will have proven experience of how to tackle and manage out of hours emergencies and an understanding of due protocol that must be followed.

You will have excellent communication skills as you will be in regular contact with various different teams, such as; forum reps, caretakers, Estate Officers, councillors and residents. You will also be liaising with the Estate management office (EMO) in order to manage the voids and lettings processes. This will involve inspecting void properties and showing them to prospective tenants.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.
