The Emergency Duty Team (EDT) provides an out of hours service for North Yorkshire County Council and the City of York and is based in County Hall, Northallerton. 

The principle responsibility of the EDT is to respond to out of hours requests where intervention from the Local Authority is required to safeguard a vulnerable child or adult until the next working day. 

We have a unique opportunity for a qualified Social Worker to join us where you will provide support across both our adults and children's services. 
We are happy for this to be made up of one full time post or two part time posts so we welcome applications from those interested in either part time or full time work.

We, like other teams, operate in an environment of transformational change and innovation. The team consists of nine social workers, one Team Manager and two Team Leaders. 

Within a mystery shopping exercise our EDT obtained an excellent rating- something we are extremely proud of! 

As a qualified Social Worker you will have a broad and detailed knowledge of all statutory functions of Social Care and Health Services (including legislation/guidance). 

You will be dealing with complex cases that require thorough and robust risk making decision. 

The core focus of this role is to be the single point of contact for the social care service, children's, adults, young people and mental health, out of hours. 

While on duty you will assess and prioritise incoming work ensuring that the appropriate response in line with procedure and using their professional judgement. 

You will manage complex cases while on duty and will develop and share the specialist knowledge of other qualified professions.

You will be based in the offices at County Hall and travel where required throughout the County and the City of York. 

Please note that EDT covers the hours of 16:00 to 08:30 the next working day and weekends and Bank Holidays and therefore we operate a rota to cover these hours. 

You will be entitled to an unsocial hour’s payment which is an enhancement of 20% for all basic and addiotnal hours worked for employees who provide full rota cover i.e. weekends and nights.
