Are you an experienced teacher or tutor? Are you looking for a challenging but rewarding role? Do you have a proven track record of working with young people with cognition and learning difficulties?

We are looking a specialist teacher for Cognition and Learning to join our team. As a specialist teacher you will work in partnership with schools and other settings including home educators to promote inclusion, achievement and to secure better outcomes for children and young people with SEND across North Yorkshire. There is a focus on promoting an understanding of learning, development and emotional wellbeing for all.

The aim of the Inclusion Education service is to support and facilitate effective provision for SEND, ensuring that children and young people are enabled to reach their potential. Wherever appropriate, involvement is carried out in partnership with other agencies across health and social care.

Our core activity encompasses work around the most vulnerable children and young people, based on their individual needs. We work in accordance with North Yorkshire’s children and young people’s strategy ‘Young and Yorkshire 2’ and LA procedures in relation to equal opportunities, safeguarding and other relevant policies. We are quality assured through self-evaluation, action planning and the review of the impact of the provision.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Knowledge of legislative framework for SEND and detailed knowledge of its practices and protocols and inclusion in education

• Significant level of knowledge in relation to Cognition and Learning difficulties including in some or all of the following aspects of SEN: SpLD, MLD, SLD,

• Knowledge of diagnostic teaching to inform learning (including assessment for learning

• Substantial and relevant experience of working with children and young people in education
