An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Strategic Transport team for a junior engineer to join our Transport Development Management (TDM) team on a permanent basis.

Bristol is currently experiencing considerable growth, and with it increased demands for housing and employment. Whilst positive, the need for additional staff has arisen out of these increased demands, alongside the pressing need to address climate change, and deliver sustainable development that minimises harm it generates on its surrounding environment.

The TDM team is responsible for ensuring that new developments in Bristol are served by high quality infrastructure for all users. You will be involved in the planning process alongside architects, designers and engineers, to ensure that the delivery of highway works carried out by developers, meet the high standards that our existing and new population will expect. You will therefore be engaged in the technical approval, supervision and inspection of these works, and will gain valuable experience in all Transport and Highway Engineering matters.

We require an enthusiastic and ambitious individual, who is looking to launch or enhance their career in engineering, by joining what is a talented and hard-working team. Experience in the fields of Transport Planning and/or Civil Engineering would be an advantage; as would the use of software such as AutoCAD, or AutoTRACK, although the latter are not essential.

In exchange for this, we will offer you a bespoke training and development programme tailored to your needs, that ensures you have the necessary skills to undertake the role. This is in the interests of furthering your experience, and taking on more responsibility, as you progress within the organisation. We do however ask that you hold a full current driving licence.

We also offer a full range of employee benefits including flexible working hours, a competitive annual and flexi-leave entitlement, entry into the Local Government Pension scheme, mobile working and childcare vouchers.

If you are keen to find out more about this opportunity, for an informal chat please contact Laurence Fallon, Transport Development Manager, on 0117 9036 846 or laurence.fallon@bristol.gov.uk

Closing date: 2 July 2019.

At Bristol City Council, we value having a workforce as diverse as the City we serve.  We therefore welcome, develop and promote people from all sections of the community.
