There is no age limit on an apprenticeship. An apprenticeship can be used for people starting out on their work life journey at the age of 16 or those changing a career for a different working life.  

The Post 

The Insurance team apprentice will learn to handle third party claims for damages against the council, in addition to supporting the wider team with insurance processes such as invoice processing and performance reporting. It is a great opportunity to gain insight into a huge industry whilst gaining relevant qualifications. The role will develop the apprentice’s communication and customer service skills.

Key Functionalities 

It involves administering the system for insurance claims, and using Oracle processes. This is an office based role where they will work and gain competency on Microsoft Office applications as well as the Insurance claims system, and the Oracle Financial Information system.

It is also a customer focussed position with the apprentice supporting the team in responding and resolving claimant’s queries.

You will gain hands-on experience of working as part of the Finance environment within Local Government, by working as part of a team and assisting in the delivery of a quality service within the council.

Simultaneously undertaking a comprehensive study programme towards the Level 3 in the Payroll Administrator Apprenticeship. You will gain valuable knowledge and skills which will be an asset to the council and your career. Our apprenticeship scheme offers significant assistance with training and provides the opportunity to improve skills for future career opportunities.

The Person 

The successful candidate will need good organisational skills, attention to detail, as well as good time management skills.

Keen to learn, you will demonstrate good communication skills, and understanding of good customer service. 

You will need to show your interest in local government and the delivery of public services.

We will also be looking for a flexible and positive approach to work.
