We’re looking for a positive and dedicated individual to support our vital work tackling Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG). If you are looking for an opportunity to make a difference to the lives of some of our most vulnerable residents then this could be the role for you.

You will be responsible for ensuring that safeguarding and risk issues are identified and effectively managed through the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC). This panel brings together multiple agencies to identify risk and works to protect the victims of the most serious domestic violence and abuse in Richmond upon Thames. You will administer this panel by receiving referrals and risk assessments, setting the agenda, completing minutes and actions and ensuring that partner agencies complete their actions.

You will have a key role to play in analysing the data that comes out of the panel, to identify where there are gaps in referrals and to ensure that agencies are working with all victims, including those from minority or hard to reach groups. This will include preparing performance reports on the MARAC for partnership meetings. As the MARAC expert, you will develop and deliver briefing sessions with professionals to raise awareness of the MARAC process and violence against women and girls.

You will also support the VAWG Manager and Vulnerabilities Manager with the administration of wider meetings on violence against women and girls and with planning and implementing awareness raising campaigns and events such as the White Ribbon campaign.

Ideally you will have experience of working with local communities, statutory and voluntary sector organisations and an understanding of how agencies work to protect victims of violence and abuse. This role does not work directly with victims of violence and abuse, but plays a key role in coordinating the work of partners to protect victims.

The newly expanded Community Safety Service work to prevent crime and anti-social behaviour through community collaboration, neighbourhood problem solving and multi-agency working. Specific areas covered by the team include reducing Violence against Women and Girls, tackling Hate Crime, reducing knife crime and violence, managing adult offenders, countering extremism and preventing radicalisation. We are a supportive, friendly and busy team covering a diverse range of policy areas and fulfilling a crucial role in both Wandsworth and Richmond.

If you think you have the necessary drive, skills and experience to succeed in this role and to make a positive contribution to the delivery of our dynamic service and safety of our communities then we would like to hear from you. For an informal discussion please contact Albina Hiorns, VAWG Manager, on 0208 487 5350.

In return, we can offer you working arrangements that will enhance your work-life balance. The standard working week for this job is a 36 hour working week (Full Time) but we are open to discussing alternative working patterns. We can also offer the chance to work from home and a generous holiday allowance, 31 days plus bank holidays.

In addition, we offer a range of staff benefits such as membership of the Local Government contributory pension scheme, childcare vouchers, new technology scheme, interest-free loans on annual travel cards, discounts at many leisure activities, restaurants, shops, and other establishments. A wide range of developmental opportunities are also offered.
