Job Details

Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LPFT) provides a range of mental health services for the population of Lincolnshire including inpatient care, rehabilitation, talking and specialist psychological therapies, learning disabilities support, and some social care for adults, children, families and older people. Serving a mixed rural and urban population of around 900,000 people, the Trust provides services at 56 main sites spread across the 2720 square miles of Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire. LPFT has an annual turnover of c. £100m and employs around 2,000 members of staff.

The Trust is innovative, caring and ambitious and is committed to seeking new and more effective ways to promote recovery and quality of life through mental health, social care and specialist community services provided by itself and in collaboration with partners. The Trust has a strong track record of performance across both finances and quality measures and is well placed to meet the demands of the future.  In January 2019, we received a ‘Good’ rating across all domains of the CQC inspection rating and we were rated as ‘Outstanding’ for “Well-Led”.

We are looking to appoint a Director of Operations who will play a key role in the development and implementation of our vision to deliver outstanding services for the local community and to be an outstanding employer in the region. As part of this work we are aiming to further expand the services we deliver, develop and implement new models of care, move care closer to patients in the community, and encourage further regional collaboration for the benefits of the communities we serve.

The Director of Operations will play a key part in influencing and driving this work internally at LPFT, and also as part of the Sustainability and Transformation Programme (STP) across the local area. The successful candidate will require skills in working in partnership, with the confidence to challenge the status quo when required in order to progress work with local partners and ensure joined up care is delivered to our local communities.

They will also be expected to play a role across all the executive portfolios as a corporate director of LPFT, particularly across the people, quality, sustainability, quality improvement and risk agenda. The new Director of Operations will be joining a progressive, patient focused and values driven Board who have recently undergone several changes, bringing new energy and ideas to the organisation.

This opportunity may suit someone already operating at director level, but could also be a great opportunity for a high performing deputy director to break through into their first Board position. We are keen to engage with potential candidates from a variety of backgrounds across the NHS (e.g. provider, CCG, ALB, NHS Improvement or NHS England) and would also welcome applications from operational leaders in aligned sectors such as social care, charities, third sector and private provision. Individuals with experience of working within challenged or outstanding organisations would be appealing.

Most important to us in recruiting our new Director of Operations is the values of candidates. We are looking for someone who is authentic, reflective, insightful, and shows high levels of emotional intelligence. The successful candidate will have strong skills and experience gained in a complex organisation, be comfortable working at pace, deliver to a high standard, and motivate and engage others. Above all, we want someone who is passionate about mental health, learning disabilities and improving patient outcomes, whose personal values are aligned with the values of the organisation.

We are an ambitious organisation; a small Trust doing big things, and are keen to push forward, raise our profile, and provide the best possible services and care. We look forward to hearing from exceptional candidates who want to join us as we drive forward care for the people of Lincolnshire and surrounding areas.

We want to employ a diverse workforce and we take positive action to achieve this. Having a diverse leadership team is crucial to this aim and we actively encourage applications from under-represented groups and those who have had personal experience of mental health conditions to apply for this role.

The closing date for applications is 9.00am on Monday 12th August 2019.

For further information, to request the candidate briefing pack or to arrange informal discussion about the role, please contact Wayne Colthirst or Lucy Renwick at the NHS Leadership Academy on 0113 322 5672.

To apply, please email your CV and supporting statement to applications@leadershipacademy.nhs.uk
