Job Details

In Bexley we are committed to recruiting and developing newly qualified social workers to help them become competent, capable, relationship based, solution focused, and risk-sensible practitioners.

We are now recruiting the eighth cohort of our NQSW Academy and, if successful, you can expect to join us in September 2019!

In your first year of employment with us, you will be appointed as a Newly Qualified Children’s Social Worker where you will be supported by our Workforce Academy Team. The role of the Academy is to provide students, NQSWs, social workers, and frontline managers with the tools, support, training, and professional development opportunities they need to deliver outstanding services to our children and families in Bexley.

Our ASYE programme consists of a comprehensive two week induction to introduce you to the various parts of our service and teams that work in supporting our children and families.  Following this, you will be given an incremental caseload in your team that will be gradually increased to a maximum of 16 children’s cases.  Your Practice Educator provides you 1:1 support in helping your learning and development as well as your regular assessment reviews and completing your ASYE portfolio.

The Council, its staff and partners, were delighted in August 2018 when Ofsted judged the overall effectiveness of children’s social care services to be ‘outstanding’!  We were especially pleased that our investment in frontline practitioners and managers was recognised.  Ofsted concluded that, “Bexley is a safe and supportive place to work with highly creative work undertaken by a skilled and well supported workforce.”

We believe deeply in relationship based social work practice and ‘Signs of Safety’ is our strengths based practice model that informs how we work with children and families in a respectful and collaborative manner.  We believe this is what provides the best and safest outcomes for the children and young people that we serve and support.

If this sounds appealing to you then we would love to hear from you!  We are looking for qualified social workers who are excited to learn and are passionate about helping children.
