We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Practice Supervisor to work in the Looked After Children's Team in the East of the County.
The team is responsible for the wellbeing and progress of looked after children in the Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale area, as well as some children placed outside of the County. You will also be responsible for the oversight of progressing plans for permanence where the child is not going to remain a looked after child e.g. adoption.
The team undertakes the majority of care proceedings for the East of the county and uses a Signs of Safety approach to assess and manage risk to children.
The post holder will do this by effective management of social work practice through the use of social work supervision. You will work closely with the Team Manager to be able to make safe, evidence based decisions.
It is essential that you have a relevant social work qualification; you will also need to have substantial post qualifying experience including case management experience and experience of managing staff.
You will need to have the ability to manage, supervise and support a diverse range of staff with all aspects of children and families work, including children in need, looked after children and child protection. You will also have good assessment skills, be able to communicate, both verbally and in writing, possess IT skills and be able to plan your work. This position is both challenging and demanding, but is also very rewarding.
