Chelmsford Museum is seeking enthusiastic Casual Duty Managers to support the Assistant Museums Manager (Visitor Services) by providing duty management and key holder responsibilities for Chelmsford Museum on a casual basis.
The Museum has been progressing significant change since 2016 and following the awarding of funds from the Heritage Lottery Fund in Summer 2017, Chelmsford Museum is undergoing a GBP 2.2 million transformation, covering all aspects of the visitor experience. This thrilling transformation will establish Chelmsford as a cultural hub in the county as well as highlighting the essential place Chelmsford Museum holds within the city. The Museum is expanding its Public Programme and event portfolio to include corporate event hire, Museum Lates,curatorial exhibitions and event days. In support of this transformation, the Museum is looking to create a pool of confident and capable Duty managers towork as part of the Visitor Services team who will be responsible for the Museum site on a casual basis for evening functions and weekends as required.
The Casual Duty Managers will play a crucial role in the operations and customer service delivery of the Museum service. This work will include supervising the museum assistants on shift, patrolling public areas of the museum, ensuring the cleanliness of the museum is kept to a high standard and delivering warm and courteous customer service and care to all museum visitors.
The role will support the Assistant Museums Manager (Visitor Services) with the option to work at Chelmsford Museum's other sites, Sanford Mill and the Museum Store, as and when needed.
The successful candidate will have a comprehensive knowledge and experience of working with computers and software packages such as Outlook, Excel, Word as well as the internet. This is an exciting role for pro-active and organised individuals with a flair for customer service who are keen to work within a Museum undergoing rapid transformation.
