Derby – proud of its heritage and ambitious for the future
Use your extensive property knowledge to take Derby to the next level.
When you join the senior management team at Derby City Council reporting to the Strategic Director, Corporate Resources, you’re setting yourself up for a whirlwind of opportunity. Currently in the midst of a progressive transformation programme, we are striving to achieve a better city for our residents – and with a huge scope of programmes already underway, we are well on our way to exceeding our goals.
Benefitting from a supportive network of leaders who all share this same vision, we are enjoying an opportune moment in which ideas and concepts are welcomed, while the financial cutbacks that every council are being forced to make aren’t daunting us – in fact, they are simply challenging us to think more creatively. The resulting team spirit is quite unique, and is something that we are immensely proud of.
As the Director of Property Services, you will enjoy a career-defining role as you help us align our assets and performance to optimise support for services to residents and council properties. This is a unique challenge as many of these buildings are ageing and we are investigating options to tackle this problem. We are keen to increase the pace for change and delivery; you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Corporate Health and Safety team and the three Property divisions that are being reshaped to Corporate Buildings & FM Services, Estates & Property Review and Property Projects & Technical Services. .
As well as overseeing maintenance schemes on all of our buildings, we also have several exciting capital property schemes. You will lead the implementation of our new approach to being a Corporate Landlord and extend our property rationalisation programme that will deliver cashable savings for the Council. This is a multi-layered role, with the scope to have a considerable impact on the city of Derby. Experience at managing property function at a senior level is key to succeed in this role. We will also look to you to forge partnerships that are sustainable and will benefit Derby’s communities, so you will need excellent communication skills.
If you’re ready to take on these exciting challenges, then it would be great to bring you on board.
