Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The post will be involved in all aspects of the funeral service from making arrangements, collection and preparation of the deceased to conducting and arranging funerals. This includes driving funeral vehicles, ensuring they meet our high standards of cleanliness, as well as other facilities and buildings.

As part of the 24 / 7 on call rota the post will need to attend homes and businesses to collect deceased and bring into our care. Although there are core hours you will be expected to meet the demand that includes evening and weekend home visits and early start on the morning of some funerals.

Whilst unpleasant at times and emotionally demanding the job comes with significant benefits and reward. The thanks we receive from families and relatives alone can be extremely rewarding.

The Officer will need to be able work as part of a team, as well as being able to complete your own tasks in a timely manner and ensure appropriate information shared. Being willing to help others as well as ask for help at times. Candidate will need to demonstrate they are able to prioritise work and understand the importance of timing of actions.
