As our Democratic Services Team Leader, you will lead a ‘can do’, motivated and professional team that make a positive difference to the effective management and operation of the shared democratic support service for East Hampshire District Council and Havant Borough Council. Through your leadership you will ensure that all council decisions are recorded and published as required by legislation and the Councils’ constitution.

You will be an enthusiastic and experienced democratic services officer with the necessary skills to lead the Council’s Democratic Services Section. You will have the opportunity to lead and shape an established team to ensure high quality committee and scrutiny services to Members of the Councils and the scope to shape the future service delivery offering.

You will be responsible for managing and delivering the servicing of Council, Cabinet, Committees, Sub-Committees and all other Member level bodies and key officer groups supporting decision-making. You will give authoritative advice and guidance to Members and other as necessary, ensuring all meetings conform to legal requirements and in accordance with the Constitution, corporate standards and relevant procedures and processes.

To succeed as our Democratic Services Team Leader, it is essential that you have substantial experience of committee administration, preferably within local government or another public body, and have a detailed knowledge of local government functions, structures and procedures. You will have excellent interpersonal, communication and report writing skills, have a flexible approach to work and the ability to motivate and lead staff.
