Bedford is growing at a fast pace and we are investing heavily in our highways infrastructure. With significant projects such as our £20 million Bedford 2020 congestion relief programme, major development works to support housing and business growth and public realm improvement works. 

Inspection of highways project works including maintenance schemes and new estate roads construction (Section 38 and Section 278 works). Responsible for all site record keeping, ensuring compliance with standards and drawings, and ensuring the correction of defects. The post holder will raise health and safety concerns with contractors and monitor compliance with Construction Phase Plans. To act mainly independently and be expected to make day to day decisions on site that may have a financial impact on the contract. The post holder will also know when to refer decisions to the Engineer or Team Leader.
