Job 1: Security Officer – 37 Hours – substantive

Grade 6 £19,554 - £21,166

Based at Huddersfield Customer Service Centre

Job 2: Casual Security Officer – 1 job Grade 6 £11.36 per hour

(As and when to be part of our casual bank)

Grade 6 £11.36 per hour

Based at Huddersfield & Dewsbury Customer Service Centre

The substantive role is based in Huddersfield Service Centre; but may occasionally be asked to work in another Centre.  Your priority is the safety of staff and customers but, with training, you will develop knowledge on Council services which will enable you to help customers with basic enquiries as you move about the Centre.

The Casual role will be based in Huddersfield or Dewsbury Customer Service Centre, as and when required to cover staff absences such as leave, training, sickness etc., therefore some weeks you will not be required to work.

You will be experienced in the provision of a security service and be happy to suggest ideas for improving service delivery related to keeping people safe.  You will have a friendly and polite manner and be highly resilient.  You enjoy the opportunity to engage with a wide range of customers from both inside and outside the Council and have an empathetic nature which supports good judgement.

You will be keen to develop basic knowledge on a range of council services and first aid, and will be proactive about your learning in a continually changing customer service environment.  You should remain calm and strong under pressure and be able to remain professional with difficult customers.  You are comfortable in conflict situations.  You will be fit and healthy enough to work on the floor all day, and able to defend yourself and others against anyone who may wish to cause harm.  Flexible and proactive, with a positive approach, you are open to new ways of working and keen to provide excellent customer service.

You should hold a current SIA Door Supervisor Licence.

An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required for this job.  A conviction may not exclude candidates from appointment but will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
