Your role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to undertake the role of Assistant Director – Skills & Enterprise at Wigan Council.

You will lead, develop and implement Wigan's new Employment & Skills Strategy, working with partners to drive improvements in opportunities, skills provision, and employability at all levels throughout the borough.

Responsible for our Invest In Wigan Team, you will support the growth and diversification of the borough's economy and ensure that businesses are able to access the support they need to invest, grow and innovate.

You will also coordinate the development and implementation of a Social Value Framework to ensure that more of our businesses and residents are able to benefit from the growth of the borough, fostering a more inclusive economy.

About you:

We are seeking an inspiring individual to lead and facilitate the development of key strategic plans, providing thought leadership to the organisation and bringing new ideas and innovation.

You will be educated to degree level or have an equivalent level of proven experience relevant to the role. Your ability to successfully manage change in a complex environment will be essential to the success of this role.
