A great opportunity has arisen at Kirklees Council within the Electoral Services Team. 

We are looking for a highly organised individual with a ‘can do’ approach to join our team. 

The role offers the challenge of a varied and interesting workload; supporting different groups of customers ranging from members of the public, political representatives, candidates, agents, councillors, members of parliament, Cabinet Office, Electoral Commission and a range of other external organisations. You will support a small team of staff which includes Electoral Services Officers, Electoral Outreach Officers and an Assistant Electoral Services Officer.

You will be required to work on your own and also be an effective leader of people and projects.  You will need to have a professional, friendly and polite manner to engage effectively with a wide range of customers and stakeholders and have a keen eye for detail. 

You will have proven working experience in an electoral administration background with a commitment to seeing the job through. Knowledge and understanding of legislation governing electoral registration and election administration is essential to enable you to lead on designated specialist areas for electoral events and to provide specialist advice to a range of customers.

You will be able to demonstrate an advanced knowledge and understanding of applications and systems to NVQ 4 level or demonstrate equivalent skills.

You will require literacy skills to enable you to produce complex and specialist documentation and numeracy skills to produce statistical information, manipulate and analyse statistical information from large volumes of data. 

You will require management experience or be able to demonstrate competence to manage staff and resources

It is compulsory to work additional and extended hours as required including weekends and Bank Holidays, during the election timeline.

You will undertake the AEA Foundation Course in Electoral Administration and be willing to study for the AEA Certification Course in Electoral Administration.
