We have some vacancies in one of Children’s Home in Kirklees (Children with Disability):
Job 1: 37 hours
Job 2: 30 hours
Job 3: 21 hours
Casual contracts also available.
Working with children and young people is rewarding and exciting, no two days are the same. Our children’s home provide a high standard of care and support to the young people who live there; our aspirations for young people are high and we are looking for staff who share that ethos.
We are looking for proactive, dynamic, creative and emotionally resilient Residential Care Officers who are passionate about supporting and enabling children and young people with disabilities to have positive experiences and life chances.
You will provide direct support and care to children and young people and enable and support our children and young people’s participation in social and leisure activities.
Requirements for this job:
- Experience of working with Children and Young People.
- An understanding of the issues faced by children and young people with disabilities and how living in care and life experiences can impact on their social and emotional wellbeing.
An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check is required for this job. Please note that a conviction may not exclude candidates from appointment but will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
You will be working with children and young people who may have communication difficulties, restricted mobility and may present some challenging behaviours. Following an offer of appointment you will be required to undertake a standard medical screening and any other medical screening as determined by Employee Healthcare appropriate to occupational risk.

For appointment at Grade 7, Residential Care Officer (£22,462 - £23,836 for 37 hours), candidates must be in possession of a Diploma Level 3 in Residential Childcare. In the absence of the required qualification candidates will be appointed at Grade 6, trainee Residential Care Officer (£19,554 - £21,166 for 37 hours).
The service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including weekends and Public Holidays. You will be required to work on a rota basis; day shifts are between 7.30am and 10pm, waking night shifts are between 9.30pm and 7.45am. You will receive a 7% enhancement for working over a 7 day rota and a further 20% for waking nights.
