It all starts here

Southend-on-Sea is a place like no other. And what a place to live, work and play. A vibrant, entrepreneurial place, with a burgeoning cultural scene, we are also blessed with many of the things you would expect from a traditional seaside town, including a beautiful coastline, green open spaces and a variety of things to do and places to explore.  It is no wonder that we welcome over 7.5 million visitors every year.  We are growing, modernising and transforming, as a place and as a Council.  Our Southend 2050 Ambition sets a radical, new direction of travel, one which will ensure all Southenders live, learn and work in a prosperous, confident and well-connected city.

We will need to change fundamentally to take advantage of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.   We will be a Council that is more agile, more efficient, more entrepreneurial and more engaged with residents and customers.  We are building a Council that is “match fit” for the future, and we want you to be a part of it, working collectively to shape and lead our new organisation while delivering great services in the here and now.

As Statutory Director of Adult Social Services you will lead the adoption of a strengths-based approach to adult and community services, working in partnership with the NHS and voluntary sector and mobilising our universal services like culture and leisure to improve wellbeing and quality of life for our adult population.

If you are a leader who drives positive change, encourages innovation and delivers outcomes in a collaborative, commercial way, then come to Southend-on-Sea and help shape our city of the future.
