About the role

In this newly created role you will report directly to the Director of Finance and Resources, and work collaboratively with the Council's other Deputy Director of Finance to advance our agenda and help deliver our priorities.  You will:

  • After a successful probationary period, take up the Section 151 Officer responsibility for our partner Gosport Borough Council 
  • Lead the transformational development of Portsmouth City Council's Revenues & Benefits, Payroll, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions 
  • Provide financial acumen and strategic leadership across both Councils and play a key role in the joint management arrangements across all our partnerships
  • Work closely with the Leader and Chief Executive of both Councils deputising where appropriate on wider issues and representing us at local, national and international levels

About you

We are looking for an exceptional candidate with experience, talent, strategic vision and creativity.  CCAB / CIMA qualified with substantial post qualification experience you will bring a proven track record of financial management in large, complex organisations.  You will have experience of financial policy and strategy development as well as evidence of a track record of transformational leadership of financial operations and services.  Your credibility and authority, coupled with your expertise, will position you to provide outstanding advice to key decision makers.
