Job Details
The Council, working in partnership with Maldon District Council and Essex County Council is looking to recruit two people to work closely with our Housing Service and other local agencies to assess housing options for people who are currently or at risk of sleeping rough.
This is a great opportunity to work closely with people and other agencies who provide housing and support, including local charities, health, social care and the criminal justice system. Each Navigator will have their own caseload and work alongside both Councils’ homelessness teams to asses housing need on a case-by-case basis through to helping people move on towards independent living.
Applicants should have experience working with vulnerable people, other agencies and knowledge and understanding of housing and especially the legislation and statutory duties for local housing authorities working with homelessness.
The successful applicants will be based mainly at the Civic Centre in Chelmsford working 37 hours per week but are required to travel widely in both the Chelmsford and Maldon districts. These posts provide an ideal opportunity to develop existing knowledge and skills, gaining experience of both operational and strategic housing issues in the mid Essex area.
Chelmsford City Council is committed to safeguarding vulnerable groups and expects all employees to share this commitment and have a range of policies and procedures in place which promote safeguarding and safer working practices across our services. The Council's Safer Recruitment process contains pre-employment vetting which includes safeguarding training, obtaining references and ensuring compliance with the Disclosure and Barring Service process.
