Job summary and Responsibilities

Please note this role will be based at county Hall in Chelmsford.

As a reception assistant, you will be required to meet and greet visitors and colleagues, manage room bookings and sort and frank post. You will ideally have experience working in a receptionist role; with excellent customer service skills, communication skills and IT skills. You will need to be able to work as part of a team and on your own depending on the reception you are working on.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome guests as they arrive in a professional manner.
  • Answer screen and deal with incoming calls effectively.
  • Maintain office security by following safety procedures and controlling. access by the reception desk.
  • Update calendars and schedule meetings.
  • Liaise with managers and other relevant staff.
  • Take bookings.
  • Perform other receptionist duties such as filling, photocopying, transcribing.
  • Hands on approach.
  • Multi-skilled and able to prioritise tasks.
  • Excellent organisational skills.

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • GCSE Maths and English Grade C or above
  • General experience within the Reception/customer service sector.
  • Kind and caring persona, with a good understanding of the various problems they may face in a customer service based role
  • Good communication skills
  • Proficient with technology and the use of databases, with willingness to learn new systems
  • Flexible and adaptable attitude with the ability to manage the occasional difficult situation than can occur within front face reception.
  • Initiative, liveliness and enthusiasm

Qualification certificates should be brought to interview.

The DBS update service ensures all registered DBS certificates are kept up to date and allows authorised parties to view the status of your certificate.
