Cabinet Support Officer
Chelmsford City Council have a new and exciting role that has arisen following the elections in May. The role of Cabinet Support Officer will work closely with the Leader / Deputy Leader and Cabinet members and involve managing and monitoring processes and work practices relating to Cabinet Members portfolios and will also include actively giving advice, undertaking analysis of information and preparing reports /briefings in specific policy areas.
The ideal applicant will be educated to a degree level and have a good general knowledge of local government. It is essential that applicants have experience of dealing with the public in resolving difficult issues and have the ability to work on own initiative, and prioritise own work as the daily duties will include ensuring that Cabinet Members are briefed and prepared for meetings; planning events; managing correspondence with a range of stakeholders, including MPs and residents; and supporting specific projects for key political priorities.
It is important that the successful person for this role shows a commitment to providing a high-quality service and has experience of Office 365 and its application to successfully support Cabinet.
This role is an opportunity for those who have an interest in Local Democracy and the work and aims of Chelmsford City Council. Hours of work will be 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday although flexibility in working hours is required for occasional weekend or evenings.
