We are a small team of Tenancy Services Officers based in the Temporary Accommodation Group and currently have a fantastic opportunity for the right individual to join us, providing a high quality service, working mainly around area’s to maximise income and dealing with all breaches of licence both within a hostel setting and for out of borough placements.

Team working is essential, as well as an understanding of our client group most of whom are homeless and sometimes live a chaotic life. There may be lone working at times as well as face to face contact with those suffering from alcohol, drug misuse and mental health issues.

This role is to specifically focus on working with households impacted by the benefit cap, Universal credit restrictions and benefits legislation relating to exemptions. The successful candidate will need to have a good understanding of Welfare Benefit reform, including an understanding knowledge of services that can assist with training and employment as well as individual’s income maximisation.

You will also be required to work across all the patches on an adhoc basis to provide cover for the other members of the team.

Travel both within and out of the borough is essential as well as a high level of personal and communication skills.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.

To be considered for this post it is essential to the role you have the ability to develop good working relationships and effective communication skills as you will be dealing with members of the public, contractors and staff face-to-face and over the telephone.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working with challenging clients, homeless people, rent collection and an understanding of how anti-social behaviour impacts on others.

You will possess an awareness of the proposed changes in welfare reform and how this will impact on the client group as well as an understanding of the importance of maximising income. You will have excellent IT skills with accuracy the key ensuring data is loaded in a methodical and logical manner. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to respond to anti-social behaviour and other breaches of licences/ awareness of the remedies available to the Council.

Note: All Camden employees are expected to be flexible in undertaking the duties and responsibilities attached to their post and may be asked to perform other duties.
