Highways Manager

Oxford Direct Services (ODS) was established by Oxford City Council to do two things. Provide high quality,value for money services on behalf of the city, and to drive an income stream to invest back in public services. Just like a social enterprise. Wholly owned by the Council, ODS is shifting from traditional local authority department to an entity driving commercial practice but maintaining a public service ethos.

We are seeking to appoint a Highways Manager who will oversee the management, maintenance and development of an effective Highways Service for ODS.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in a managerial position with a track record for leading on projects, contracts, driving improvement / process development and supporting the management of Client relationships with major key customers / stakeholders. This is a role with a vast range of responsibilities including Highways Works, Signage,Thermoplastic road markings, private works, Estimating, Health and Safety and the delivery of associated contracts to meet overhead contribution targets.

You will need to be confident and highly organised individual, with excellent interpersonal and motivational skills. People management and maintaining positive staff and customer relations is key to this role, so you'll have proven experience in this area.
