Job Details

This is an exciting role for an experienced Development Officer to lead the development for all street markets, miscellaneous sties and kiosks in the borough.  You will be expected to help develop and deliver a flexible and sustainable model for the future of Camden's markets, which will benefit from the various local community and economic opportunities.    

A core aim is to increase occupancy and visitors to the markets, increasing income and minimising costs. The post holder will manage and develop Camden Market’s retail portfolio ensuring that the highest possible standard of service delivery is achieved. The post-holder will be required to monitor performance, maximise profitability and effectively implement service improvement to the highest quality, ensuring the integration of the Market and street trading with the surrounding retail and business environment. 

As an advocate for the Council, you will have excellent communication skills and will develop strong leadership and working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders. You will have management, market, street trading and/or retail experience and expertise operating at a similar management level. You will also have advanced IT skills and a clear understanding of the modernising agenda for local government. 

You will also be able to handle pressure as you will be coping with deadlines, conflicting demands and unexpected problems and high levels of work.  

You will continuously develop and implement new procedures and management actions in service delivery, as well as implement compliance with legislation, council policy, financial regulations and procedures.
