We are looking to appoint both a Social Worker (level 3) and a Senior Practitioner to join our Mental Health in Families team.

The Mental Health in Families team key focus has been on working across children’s social care and adult mental health to reduce the barriers between services and enhance practice in order to improve direct work with families.  The results from this have been positive and additional resources have now been put in place to roll this out on a wider scale.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a unique team bridging the gap between adult mental health services and children’s social care, with a focus on reducing the impact of parental mental health difficulties on children.

Successful candidates will join an existing team of workers who use a whole family approach to support professionals from both services in their casework to assess risk appropriately, increase resilience and build strength in families to reduce the long term need for services. There is a focus on early intervention and prevention, collaboration between professionals and families in line with principles of restorative practice and co-production.

The role focusses on improving practice and therefore involves consultation, advice and guidance for professionals. Whilst supportive and well connected, the team is mobile and agile and therefore there is a requirement for autonomy and independence within the role. Flexibility is essential for this role to be effective.

Travel is an essential part of this job and therefore it would be extremely difficult for you to do your job effectively if you did not use a car for all or most of the time.  It is essential that you hold a full and valid driving licence and it is expected that you will either use a Council vehicle or your own car.

An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required for this job.  A conviction may not exclude candidates from appointment but will be considered as part of the recruitment process.

In order to be shortlisted for this job please demonstrate how you meet the Person Checklist set out in the Job Description. CVs will not be accepted.
