Camden’s multi-disciplinary Regeneration & Place Team is looking for a talented and experienced planner and project manager to guide and shape significant areas of change within the Borough through the production of planning frameworks and regeneration strategies. It is expected that the post holder will lead the planning framework for Gospel Oak, working closely with the Council’s Development Division, and is likely to have involvement on other Council priority projects such as Kentish Town.

Gospel Oak is one of the Council’s priority projects aimed at delivering transformational change to one of the most disadvantaged areas in the Borough. The Council is working with the community to provide new high quality homes for existing and new residents, a range of social and community infrastructure and an enhanced environment.

Kentish Town is one of the borough’s key growth areas.  The Council expects redevelopment in this area to be an exemplar for employment-led mixed use growth, delivering in the region of 2,000 new homes and a substantial increase in jobs.

This is an opportunity to significantly influence positive change in a Borough that demands and delivers some of the best new development in the country.  The post holder will lead the development of innovative, visual and area-wide planning strategies for key areas of growth.  We are looking for candidates with vision and drive for excellence in area wide place-making the ability to understand planning policy and apply it on an area wide basis and outstanding communication and community engagement skills. 

This role requires the successful candidate to have a relevant degree level qualification and/or equivalent experience. Also, you will have proven ability to think creatively and provide expert, solution focused planning advice at a senior level.

You will need to be a quick thinker, be able to analyse and resolve complex issues and have the ability to take responsibility for a service area and deliver it in a high quality effective manner. Also, you will have knowledge and understanding of the planning process, the National Planning Policy Framework and an understanding of planning policy and issues in London and at borough level.

There will be occasions where you will need to work outside of usual working hours.
