Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will join the senior management team and you will effectively lead, manage and develop the Environment, ICT, Administration, Communications and Civic Office services to ensure that these essential services deliver high quality and high performing, customer focussed services. You will also perform the functions of the statutory Chief Information Officer.
Your role will be to drive changes which will help the Council’s teams deliver our priorities and actions. You will be a skilled senior manager who has a developed good knowledge of budgets, programme delivery and the political landscape. You will have experience across a diverse range of front-line services, with expertise in change and transformation and a successful track record of developing business strategies and delivering successful outcomes.
You will have excellent communication skills and be able to influence others and to drive performance via motivation beyond factual arguments through the effective engagement of the Council’s staff and partners. Above all, you will be a leader who promotes and encourages a culture of staff empowerment and who champions our customers.

The working week is nominally one of 37 hours. However, the seniority and nature of the post will necessitate the working of additional hours for which there will be no additional payment. The grading of the post takes account of the requirement to work outside of the normal working week. There will be a requirement to attend evening meetings.
Postholders at Director level shall devote their whole-time service to the work of the Council and shall not engage in any other business or take up any other additional appointment without the express consent of the Council.
