The Role

Do you have the energy, enthusiasm and commitment to engage communities to get involved in improving and shaping their local areas?

We are looking for an exceptional individual, with strong relationship and stakeholder management skills, and excellent communication skills.

You will be responsible for managing, developing and delivering community engagement programmes in both the London Boroughs of Richmond upon Thames and Wandsworth.

This is an opportunity to lead on and be accountable for the Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy for both Councils – known as Wandsworth Local Fund in Wandsworth, and the Community Fund in Richmond.

The post holder will be pivotal in the relationship between the Councils, partner organisations, community and amenity groups and local people.

This will include support the embedding of community involvement in Council services.

You will use your management experience to lead a large Community Engagement team across two Boroughs to drive forward actions and deliver positive outcomes for our communities.

We welcome applications from candidates with experience and skills across the following areas:

  • Delivering community engagement, involvement and capacity building projects in a local authority or similar organisation
  • Negotiating, influencing and building constructive relationships with a wide range of key stakeholders including members of the public, local organisations, colleagues and elected members
  • Project planning to deliver agreed outcomes to demanding timescales
  • Working successfully with community or voluntary organisations or residents to build community capacity
