Job Details

We are looking for a talented communications professional to join our Media & External Relations function. You will work with wide a range internal and external stakeholders to communicate the work the council is doing to achieve Camden’s priorities.

You will join an established team and will play a central role in forward planning , developing digital and hard-copy content, using a range of communications channels (such as media, social media, website and print) to reach target audiences.

You will play a key role in both shaping and managing the 24/7 media cycle, dealing with enquiries, advising staff and councillors on handling and generating compelling stories about the work of the Council.

This is a great opportunity for a creative, skilled communicator to be part of a team that promotes and defends the work of the council and campaigns on the issues that are important to Camden and local government more broadly.

To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate strong writing skills, initiative and creativity. You will have an excellent understanding of communications channels and of how to reach key audiences. You will also have political awareness and sound judgement.

You will be capable of working, sometimes under pressure, to support the council when under media scrutiny and also have the ability to influence key senior decision makers and stakeholders.

You will be educated to degree level in a relevant discipline, or have equivalent experience.
