The Role

This year marks 100 years of council housing, and Camden, the fourth largest council landlord in the country, are looking for a talented, motivated communications officer to promote and support our important work on housing and resident safety.

Our 33,000 council homes include many award winners and some are amongst the most iconic social housing in the world, but our priority is keeping the people who live in them safe. In this role, you will help to promote the work we are doing to keep everyone safe and bring our homes up to the highest standard of safety, as well as contributing to a high profile behaviour change communications strategy. You will work across a wide range of initiatives and events to inform and engage our council tenants and leaseholders, and help make sure that everyone who calls a Camden Council house home has a voice and feels listened to.

You will plan and deliver varied, well researched campaigns that are evidence based and which make good use of all of available channels, and are accessible to and representative of our diverse communities. You will create quality content that works across formats including print, digital, social media and video, and you will be confident and capable of providing communications advice to colleagues across the council. You will work as part of a team with housing and communications colleagues, as well as independently on projects that profile our work on housing and resident safety.

In this role, you will need first class writing skills, initiative and creativity. You will have a good understanding of strategic communications and the importance of well researched evidence-based campaigns, with clear aims and objectives, and you’ll prioritise evaluation. You will thrive in a fast paced environment and you will be passionate about providing the best communications service for our tenants and leaseholders. You will have a good understanding of audiences and channels and a degree level qualification or equivalent work experience.

Please refer to the job profile supplementary information for full details of the role.
