About the opportunity

The Wellbeing Lead sits within the Organisation Development and People (ODP) function, and will be instrumental in leading the development of the wellbeing strategy at Essex County Council (ECC)

The role will deliver a forward-thinking programme of workplace wellbeing, with a focus on early intervention and prevention, rather than treatment, with creative approaches to both the wellbeing of the ECC workforce and its external customers.

Leading on the Wellbeing strategy for ECC, as a subject matter expert, you will be working collaboratively across functional and organisational boundaries, identifying opportunities and delivering creative solutions to promote and improve the health and wellbeing of ECC's employees, ensuring standards are always maintained.

Working jointly with the Health and Safety team, Public Health and across the Council you will ensure ECC meets its statutory requirements in terms of wellbeing at work, as well as meeting its aspiration to be a leader in workplace wellbeing in Essex.

You will be client officer for ECC's Occupational Health contract and Employee Assistance Programme, ensuring performance management is clearly defined in terms of benchmarked outcomes, short, medium and long term business, performance and quality targets and ensuring professional standards are met.

About you

With evidence of continuing professional development and expert knowledge in Wellbeing, you will be a subject matter expert on wellbeing in the workplace, with a strong working knowledge of the critical factors in planning change, the stages and phases of project and programme management and be able to identify risks and create mitigation plans.

You will have an up to date understanding of external workplace wellbeing practice and strategy and professional networks in the industry, as well as being a strong, adaptable leader, showing resilience and tenacity with ethical and professional integrity.

You will be able utilise an evidence base to develop and deploy successful creative wellbeing strategies in a complex organisation working with challenging stakeholders.

Essex County Council is proud to offer an excellent benefits package to all its employees. More information can be found on the benefits page of the Working for Essex website.

Essex County Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment.
