Job Details
We’ve got big plans for Somerset. It’s a beautiful and vibrant place and we’re ambitious about how it can grow. Our vision is focused on improving lives through innovative services that create a thriving and productive County, resilient and compassionate communities, successful partnerships, and support to those who need it most.
To underpin this vision we have taken, head on, the challenge of balancing our budgets whilst improving services. Councillors and officers have made some difficult choices as we know that we need to continue to improve and innovate whilst living within our financial means. Based on our reframed finances, we have realistic and exciting plans for designing and delivering our services.
To realise our ambition, we are looking for an exceptional property expert to help us to develop a new strategic and investment approach to our portfolio and to provide a platform for transformation of the current property services of the Council. You will oversee some large build projects, including a highly ambitious schools building and improvement programme, ensuring they are delivered on time and to budget. In addition, you will champion our corporate landlord model and lead a comprehensive and innovative asset management service.
We require a driven, ambitious individual with broad property knowledge, including commercial property expertise ideally. Experience of leading large projects/construction contracts is key, including a track record of working with a wide range of stakeholders, you will have the ability to build and sustain effective relationships at a senior level. High levels of political nous and an understanding of local government will also be essential for this senior role.
Somerset is a fantastic place to live and work - home to Exmoor National Park and a whole host of beautiful landscapes, towns and villages. We really believe this is a great opportunity in an exciting organisation and we’d be delighted to give the right candidate a warm Somerset welcome.
