We are seeking an enthusiastic Level 2 or Level 3 apprentice who is excited to explore a unique opportunity for training and progression, which will be matched to your existing qualifications and goals within the scope of our service.   This apprenticeship would ideally suit anyone who has experience of the care system and is keen to be involved in creating an excellent service for other young people in care and who can confidently talk to professionals, service users, partners and stakeholders to work together to improve and modernise services.

The candidate should be interested in listening to other young people, and feel able to represent those young people’s views, keeping young people motivated and interested in using their voice and opinions to make a difference.

This role should bring exciting opportunities for the successful candidate to sit on and influence decisions made within the Local Authority for young people in care, care leavers and all young people involved in the various participation projects lead by the service.

The Young Director will:

Support organising and running of the Children in Care Councils (CICC); Positive Journeys and Positive Journeys Seniors.  Talk, listen and report the views and feedback of children in care or who are leaving care Plan and organise meetings, events and seminars Help coordinate preparation of the Participation newsletter To plan and present items at the quarterly Corporate Parenting Board Collect suggestions from Bright Spots surveys and prepare reports from information collected Promote participation to Bexley Youth Leadership Forum and London CICC Market ideas to engage hard to reach young people in care Work with neighbouring authorities to research and share ideas on what works well Help prepare training events for partners and stakeholders

The post is available for an immediate start subject to checks; appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. 

This role has been ring-fenced for Bexley Care Leavers. 

Young people who are Bexley ‘Care Leavers’ between the age of 18-25 may apply.
