Chair of Gloucestershire ICS
Gloucestershire ICS is seeking an exceptional leader for the role of Independent Chair

The STP Plan for Gloucestershire was initially published in late 2016 following extensive engagement and consultation. Its aim is for all 6 partner organisations to work together to deliver high quality care which supports the people of Gloucestershire to live well, stay independent and enjoy life.
Our ambitious plan sets out a vision for the future of Gloucestershire’s health and social care services and focuses on four key themes:-
• Promoting active communities
• Adopting a “one place, one budget, one system” approach
• Focusing on clinical programmes
• Reducing clinical variation
The plan also aims to address the key challenges identified in the NHS Long Term Plan.
In 2018, NHS England announced that our STP partnership had developed and delivered sufficiently to become one of 14 Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) in England. A system-wide programme of work shaping our plans and vision is well underway, within a developing governance framework. The appointee will play a key role in taking this forward. Importantly, in August 2019, the ICS launched Fit for the Future to engage with our community on a range of ideas and potential solutions for how community urgent “same day” care and specialist hospital services could be provided across the county.
In order to deliver our plans, strong, focused and experienced leadership is required. To complement the able and effective leadership already in place across the system, we are now seeking to recruit a new Independent Chair for our ICS.
The Chair’s main function will be to provide clear, purposeful and determined leadership to develop and deliver the ambitions of the ICS, to hold the respective partner organisations to account in their commitment to deliver the plan. As an exceptional leader with a strong track record at system, regional or national level, you will demonstrate a personal commitment to the NHS, local government and wider public service alongside the highest standards of probity and integrity. An ability to communicate with and engage a wide range of organisations and individuals is critical.
The post is for circa 2 days a week flexibly worked for an initial office of 3 years (reviewable).
