Do you want to lead a brand-new team tackling some of the biggest problems the public sector is facing?

Can you bring inspirational leadership and invigorate new approaches to delivering change?

At the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames, we are seeking an ambitious Head of Change and Improvement to lead our newly formed Transformation Hub. This role offers the unparalleled opportunity to pioneer changes in a transforming London borough.

The Role

As Head of Change and Improvement, you’ll join the Council’s corporate leadership group (CLG) and will play an important part in providing leadership that will help achieve the council’s aspirations. You’ll influence positive outcomes across Kingston, as well as resident’s lives throughout the borough. In this strategically important and high-profile role, you’ll work collaboratively with senior leaders and other stakeholders to develop and embed a change and improvement culture across the organisation.

It will be up to you and your team to challenge colleagues to think radically and promote a culture of positive disruption, whilst providing a framework to rapidly test and develop ideas. You’ll need to thrive in a networked organisation and be someone who can work corporately, across complex networks and systems, providing strong operational leadership within a strategic context. Above all, you’ll need to be highly ambitious, passionate about embracing change and an inspirational leader.

We’re excited to be building a new team and will be investing in your development with a purposely commissioned team development programme designed to support you to rapidly and collectively move to high performance.

We’ll focus on building your individual skills, as well as the way you work as a group. This will include a range of workshops, 1-2-1 coaching and mentoring, team activities as well as utilising psychometric and dynamic learning tools. Our programme focuses on accelerated development, shaping our Corporate Transformation Hub to create a team ready to deliver and provide the support and challenge the organisation needs to succeed.

As well as supporting your growth and training, we operate a fully flexible policy with work from home options and flexible hours to help give you a healthy work life balance.

About Us

At Kingston, we’re not just looking for people who try to do things differently, but those who are willing to try different things. To tackle the biggest obstacles in local government, we need people who aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo.

We want to move away from a focus on traditional savings and cuts, to explore new approaches and innovation, that support us to deliver better outcomes for our residents & communities and build a truly sustainable council.

Joining our Transformation Hub offers a career defining opportunity to drive wide-scale change. If you’re looking for a challenging role where your work will have public visibility and impact, we want to hear from you.
