Do you want to join a brand-new team tackling some of the biggest problems the public sector is facing?

Can you disrupt, challenge, support and enable delivery in an ambitious London borough?

At the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames, we are seeking two highly driven Change and Improvement Partners to join our newly formed Transformation Hub. These roles will challenge colleagues to think differently, promoting a culture of positive disruption, whilst providing support, coaching and tools to rapidly test and develop ideas. You’ll join the Hub at the beginning of an exciting journey, where you’ll have the chance to shape your role and really make your mark.

The Role

As a Change and Improvement Partner, you’ll be responsible for providing leadership, support and challenge to service areas, driving radical transformation. You will bring fresh ideas, as well as supporting service leads to turn their ideas into projects, ensuring there is a compelling vision and business case with defined benefits for the council.

By asking questions, you will inform and shape project delivery and work with colleagues in digital, commissioning, performance, finance, OD (and others) to overcome issues and make things happen at pace. As well as a strong track record of delivering successful, large-scale projects, you’ll need excellent knowledge of project and programme management methodologies (both Waterfall and Agile) and change management approaches. This is a role that gets stuff done – you’ll be shaping our culture as well as project delivery.

A key function of your role will be to provide inspirational and constructive leadership to ensure high-performance within a networked operating model. This will happen at all levels in the organisation – you’ll challenge and support senior and junior colleagues as well as your peers.  You’ll encourage positive change, building a team culture that encourages innovative, smart and collaborative working.

Above all, you’ll need to be an extremely driven and organised self-starter who thrives on achieving change. We’re looking to build sector leaders, people who really want to transform the way we do things.

We’re excited to be building a new team and will be investing in your development with a purposely commissioned team development programme designed to support you to rapidly and collectively move to high performance.

We’ll focus on building your individual skills, as well as the way you work as a group. This will include a range of workshops, 1-2-1 coaching and mentoring, team activities as well as utilising psychometric and dynamic learning tools. Our programme focuses on accelerated development, shaping our Corporate Transformation Hub to create a team ready to deliver and provide the support and challenge the organisation needs to succeed.

As well as supporting your growth and training, we operate a fully flexible policy with work from home options and flexible hours to help give you a healthy work life balance.

About Us

At Kingston, we’re not just looking for people who try to do things differently, but those who are willing to try different things. To tackle the biggest obstacles in local government, we need people who aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo.

We want to move away from a focus on traditional savings and cuts, to explore new approaches and innovation, that support us to deliver better outcomes for our residents & communities and build a truly sustainable council.

Joining our Transformation Hub offers you the chance to take the next step-up in your career. If you’re looking for a challenging role where your work will have public visibility and impact, we want to hear from you.
