This is an opportunity to join a leading organisation, working with some of the biggest names in the construction industry to deliver a trusted and independent Building Control Service. We are looking for a qualified and experienced Principal Building Control Officer to assist in delivering a successful Building Control Service, ensuring that Camden’s legislative requirements associated with Building Control are met.

You will be part of a professional local team with responsibility for identifying and driving innovative changes in Service processes, procedures and working practice to increase productivity and deliver value for money. You will assist with the implementation of an innovative promotion and marketing strategy to increase the market share of building control work.

You will play a leading role in the management of the service including: communicating the service’s business objectives, deputising for senior managers and participating in ensuring the successful delivery of projects including the council’s emergency service.

You will be required to take part in Camden`s out of hour’s emergency service.

You will be a corporate member of an appropriate professional body (RIBA, RICS, CIOB, ABE or CEng) and possess a high level of expertise, knowledge and extensive experience in the field of Building Control and its ancillary matters, both on site and in the office.

You’ll have demonstrable management experience including formulating, implementing and maintaining management and administrative systems and have a proven track record of delivering cost effective, high quality Building Control Services successfully. Alongside this, you’ll bring strong negotiation skills and display leadership qualities, comprising of people management and of driving improvement and influencing change.

You will have the ability to assume responsibility for the service, such as conducting external meetings and site visits, representing the service at Council Committee meetings and managing out of hour’s emergencies/ service requirements.

To succeed, you will possess strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build and maintain key working relationships across a range of levels.
