This is an exciting opportunity to join a multi professional service supporting schools, settings and families in meeting the special educational needs of children and young people.  We are seeking a flexible and skilled practitioner with experience in teaching children/ young people with special educational needs.  Our Advisory Teachers provide advice and support for children and young people with learning difficulties and specific learning difficulties (Dyslexia).

The job will provide challenging and stimulating work across the age range and in a range of settings. The role is varied and will include assessment, advice and support to professionals and parents and contribute to the training and development programme delivered by Inclusion Support.

We are seeking applicants who can demonstrate:

  • A minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience and outstanding teaching of children with SEND.
  • A good understanding of practice and policy in the teaching of pupils with SEND.
  • A good knowledge and understanding of the strategic management and development of provision for pupils with SEND.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A clear understanding of best practice in SEND
  • The ability to inspire staff to attain the highest standards of teaching and learning
  • The ability to develop strong partnerships with parents, colleagues and the community
  • The ability to communicate and model Sandwell’s vision and values
  • A clear understanding of and commitment to the highest standards of pupil care and safeguarding
