A vacancy has arisen for a Social Worker (title Social Care Assessor) to work within the Scarborough North and Whitby Independence Team.  

The post is for 18.5 hours permanent and can be based at either Whitby or Castle House, Scarborough.

The Independence team consists of Social Workers and Occupational Therapists.  You will need to demonstrate an understanding of strength based assessments and hold a social work qualification.

You will be working with adults and elderly living within the Scarborough North and Whitby area who may have physical, mental and/or  learning disabilities. 

Assessments to enable discharge from hospital including reablement, support at home, assessments for short term and long term care placements and direct payments.  

You will be expected to work creatively with both the clients and their families to maximise independence and to fully utilise their skills.  

You will need to be aware of, and be able to work within the legislative framework of The Care Act and the Mental Capacity act.  

You will participate within the safeguarding process as an enquiry officer if experienced and support and develop your skills and knowledge to undertake safeguarding enquiry investigations if not.
