Job Details

The London Borough of Camden is looking to recruit a Social Worker who is also AMHP qualified or willing to undergo AMHP training to join a dynamic and effective Crisis Resolution Team.

The crisis team offers intensive crisis assessment and a home treatment service providing mental health crisis care to our local residents aged 18 and upwards. Crisis home treatment promotes social inclusion and aims to support the social network in caring for our local residents in the least restrictive environment when they may be in an acute mental health crisis.

As a social worker in the crisis team, as well as carrying out direct crisis intervention work, involving initial assessments, care and risk management planning you will have protected time to provide specialist social work input to the team leading on adult and child safeguarding matters, support for carers, undertaking family and social network meetings, and proactively linking in with valuable third sector and council resources. You will also be able to provide expertise to the team on relevant mental health law and mental capacity act and participate on the Camden AMHP duty service rota.

This is an exciting time to join crisis care provision as it is expanding; there are plans for provision of a Crisis Café and innovative new practices in Peer Coaching. You will enjoy working in a multidisciplinary team who include psychiatric nurses, assistant practitioners, a psychologist as well as Consultant Psychiatrists and their trainees. You will also have the opportunity to Co- work with colleagues from our other mental health teams and from adult social care.

If you are looking for the next step up or new challenge in your Social Care career, then we want to hear from you.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.

The successful candidate must hold a valid HCPC registration and a diploma or Degree in social work or equivalent qualification.

You will have sound knowledge of the legislative frameworks and guidance, especially the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act together with policies, procedures and best practice guides and how they impact on customers including evidence of its implementation and application.

You must have the skills and ability to undertake complex assessments of adults with mental health problems who are presenting in crisis, and be able to formulate intervention plans that address the identified needs ensuring the adult with mental health needs is at the centre of the process.
