Would you like to start a rewarding career in Project Management?

Our apprenticeship programme will give you an opportunity to work in a public sector project management environment working in the dynamic Transformation Delivery and Support team. You will get the opportunity to work on a variety of projects across the functions of the council and work with experienced Project Managers and project teams to deliver a diverse range of activities. You will be assisting with day-to-day project management processes ensuring projects and individual workloads are delivered to cost, time and quality, including the co-ordination of business management actions and activities. You will also get first-hand experience supporting the Delivery Assurance team who support with governance and monitor all our programmes and projects.

All of this practical, hands on experience will support you in your understanding and earning your Level 4 qualification in project management - APMP.

Our Transformation Delivery and Support directorate brings together 3 key transformational disciplines: Project Delivery, Project Delivery in a technical environment plus an Assurance team to hold it all together. Our team works collaboratively across the organisation to scope and deliver the changes that realise Essex's Organisation Strategy, modernising the way we deliver services to Essex.

We are now seeking talented individuals to be part of our growing Transformation Delivery and Support team; helping us to fulfil our ambitions and remain a leading figure within public service delivery.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

You don't need to be an expert in project management before you join the team but you do need to have a strong work ethic and demonstrate a keen interest to learn about project management and how it applies in a local government setting.

We are looking for a bright, ambitious and an enthusiastic individual, educated to A level standard with an appetite to learn. You'll need to be a self-starter with excellent organisation, written and verbal communication skills in order to work with people at all levels and to maintain strong working relationships. You'll also need to be proactive and take pride in producing quality work. Attention to detail and your ability to work to deadlines are also key for this role.


Our apprenticeship is a 2 year fixed term contract where you will work towards the APM Project Management Qualification (APMP) accreditation: https://www.instituteforapprenticeships.org/apprenticeship-standards/associate-project-manager/
