Join Brent Council's Building Control Service, based in our award-winning Civic Centre, with views of Wembley Stadium, Wembley Arena and with the London Designer Outlet right next door. We have a wealth of exciting challenges for a Building Control Business Officer to join our multi-disciplinary service. You will also be expected to support the development of additional services for our major clients. 

The Post

Located right in the heart of Wembley regeneration area we require a Building Control Business Officer. The Post holder will be required to provide a high level financial, performance and business support service in order to make a significant contribution to the running of the Building Control service. 

Applicants will also be expected to develop and maintain positive relationships with existing and potential clients and partners to support the growth of the Building Control service within the borough (and outside) to win new work and repeat business. 

The candidate will need to prepare budget, income forecasts and act as the main contact with Building Control partners for all high level finance queries, payment schedules and fee payments. To also undertake office based technical application processing (e.g. naming and numbering, competent persons, application validations).

The Person

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, flexible, forward thinking, ambitious and customer focussed Building Control Business Officer, with high level financial, performance and business support experience and looking to make a significant contribution to the running of the Building Control service.

Applicants must be able to communicate effectively, be technically sound and have the ability to promote / represent the Building Control service with all stakeholders.

The entry level candidate should be qualified to degree level or equivalent with a bias to financial control and administration, have a good understanding of current issues, governance and developments affecting Building Control, Regeneration and Local Government.

Appointment to the highest scale will depend on applicants having a good understanding of Building Control services, having completed Finance training to an intermediate level and being astute in dealing with all Building Control financial matters. Applicants should also have an understanding of Building Control legislation in particular in relation to validation of applications, unauthorised works, dangerous structures & fees.
