Job Details

Bexley’s Growth Strategy for the next 30+ years sees the potential for unprecedented levels of new development, including up to 31,500 new homes.  Two of London’s Opportunity Areas fall within the borough and we’re working with the Mayor of London on the two Opportunity Area Planning Frameworks.  This is a particularly exciting time to contribute to developer’s proposals making sure that Bexley’s current and future travel needs are accommodated.

Transport & Development needs an experienced individual to contribute to developing transport and highway proposals that support the Council’s Growth Strategy, and in particular through the appraisal and approval of developer works to the highway and public realm as well as the management of the public rights of way network.  You will help cultivate good working relationships with key internal and external partners, particularly to ensure that the required infrastructure is secured to an appropriate standard.

This is a Career Grade post and although it is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner or someone in the first few years of their technical career, the current workload means that we are looking for someone who can work with minimal supervision with proven experience of assessing and supervising developer’s schemes.  You will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team that delivers a number of the Council’s statutory highway authority functions, including the assessment of development proposals and the formulation of transportation policies, as well as highway status enquiries and the stopping up/diversions of highways/public rights of way.

If your application is successful, you will be appointed at the appropriate scale and starting salary, depending on your skills and experience.  The job specification for the role explains the expectations for the post holder at each job level within the scope of the post.
