Kirklees council has a strong commitment to continuing to provide excellent services to support its very diverse community and places high value on the educational psychology team’s involvement in this. We are keen to recruit creative and dynamic psychologists to join our friendly and enthusiastic team. We have a strong commitment to supporting your development and actively encourage growth in areas of interest and expertise, utilising your experiences and enthusiasm to feed into service and wider authority developments.

Our service has a broad and continually expanding remit within the local authority with a strong drive to promote inclusive practice and enhance the learning of all children and young people.  Our model of delivery combines a balance of core and traded work, both highly valued by schools and partners which consists of individual focused interventions to broader and systemic involvement across schools and settings and the wider LA. Current examples of strategic project and development work secured by the service includes lead partner in the successful bid to pilot Mental Health Support Teams in schools funded via NHS England, delivering and implementing the Alex Timpson Programme on attachment and trauma aware schools in Kirklees, leading on the LAC school/setting training and development agenda for the LA, developing ELSAs in schools and the Talk Boost Intervention (ICAN).

Other local developments which we welcome your involvement in include supporting a hub approach between early years settings and local schools to improve early years outcomes, involvement in a refreshed multi-agency approach to children and young people with ASC and their families, systemic involvement in person centred approaches, delivery of support to post 16 providers, all of which will actively enhance your career growth as a main grade EP.

We offer a highly competitive salary to EPs who:

  • enjoy variety and the opportunity to be creative in their practice
  • thrive on opportunities for development and growth
  • relish the opportunity to have a key lead role within a specialist area
  • are strong on consultation and utilise a dynamic approach to assessment
  • want to work within a large, friendly and supportive team with access to excellent administrative support and IT facilities

You must be professionally qualified and be registered with the HCPC.

If you are a trainee in your final year or an experienced EP who is looking for a new opportunity we would love to hear from you. For any informal enquiries please email Dewsbury.psychology@kirklees.gov.uk or telephone 01924 483744 for further information and a member of the senior leadership team will be happy to respond to you.

Travel is an essential part of this job and therefore it would be extremely difficult for you to do your job effectively if you did not use a car for all or most of the time.  It is essential that you hold a full and valid driving licence and have a car available for work.
