Our councillors have a unique role in connecting us to our communities - they are at the heart of everything we do.
The Democracy Service are looking for a Councillor Support & Liaison Officer to be part of our innovative team who are supporting councillors and active citizens across Kirklees. Our new approach to citizen engagement has a strong focus on Place Based Working, and you will be helping councillors to work effectively in their wards.
You will be working in a busy, political environment to support councillors, senior officers and citizens. Your work will be varied and will provide challenging opportunities for you to gain experience across all aspects of our democratic work. You will work on a range of activities and projects at a time and will be responsible for the quality, creativity and timeliness of your work.
We are looking for someone who already has:
- Excellent team working skills
- A proactive and organised approach to managing and prioritising workload and the ability to work under pressure
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to resolve situations effectively
- A positive and flexible approach to your work
- A diplomatic and professional approach
Your main areas of work as a Councillor Support & Liaison Officer will be:
- Supporting Councillors in their changing role, ensuring they are supported in their ward and are placed at the heart of the organisation
- Providing advice and support to implement place based citizen engagement and encourage active citizenships
- Supporting the Council’s democratic processes, including use of a content management system and support to the Clerk to the Independent School Appeals Panel
