A vacancy has arisen for an Occupational Therapist working within either the Harrogate Independence Team or Ripon, Boroughbridge & Knaresborough Independence Team. Part time and full time applications will be considered.
As an Occupational Therapist you will receive supervision and will be expected to work within an Independence Team which comprises of both OT’s and Social Workers. The post holder will be working within the Community to undertake assessments and provision of equipment, telecare and adaptations through the Disabled Facilities Grant.
The role also includes writing a Reablement plan and reviewing the outcome with the Reablement workers. The work is with vulnerable adults and older people, assessing their needs and those of their carers.
The successful applicant will demonstrate the importance of dignity and respect in all aspects of the role and will be able to respond quickly to urgent and changing situations to minimise risks to an individual’s safety and wellbeing whilst respecting the person’s choices. The successful applicant will work in partnership with other statutory and non-statutory organisations and will be based within a busy, but friendly and supportive team. You will need to undertake assessments which then contribute into the Safeguarding process and be both involved and aware of potential safeguarding situations.Moving and handling risk assessments, advice and reports within both the care home and private home settings is part of the core duties.
A requirement is to maintain clear, concise and timely records on case files in line with Directorate’s policy.
The ability to use a computer with confidence is desirable as training will be given. A minimum of 2 years post qualification is desirable but not essential as all training will be provided. New qualified Occupational Therapists will be considered but provide evidence of social care knowledge and/or experience including the Care Act. HCPC registration is essential.
